Constable Om prakash was on duty in Bhinasar area when the incident happened, police said.
He signalled the vehicle to stop which irked occupants of the jeep who thrashed the policeman badly, they said.
The injured constable was hospitalised, police said adding the attackers fled from the scene.
Later, four persons, three of them brothers, were arrested in connection with the incident, they said.
