A police constable was attacked by a man when he tried to solve a dispute between the latter and his wife, police said.
Constable Datta Hingole of Vashind police station in the district went to the house of Raghunath Jadhav (40) when the police received a call from someone that Jadhav and his wife were quarrelling noisily, said inspector Anil Pawar.
However, an annoyed Jadhav allegedly attacked constable Hingole with a sickle.

While Hingole was rushed to hospital, where his condition was said to be out of danger, Jadhav fled. Police were looking for him.
A case of causing grievous hurt has been registered against him.
