A local court here today remanded suspended Additional SP Lokesh Sonwal in four days' police custody in connection with a corruption case.

The accused policeman has been handed over to Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths for questioning. He will be produced in court on June 4, ACB sources said.

Sonwal, who was on the run, yesterday surrendered before a court in Ajmer in connection with the case in which former Ajmer SP Rajesh Meena was arrested in April this year.

Meena was allegedly extorting monthly payments from officers in-charge of various police stations in the district through a private person, one Ramdev Singh. Both of them are now in police custody.

Sonwal allegedly used to coordinate the monthly collections from the SHOs.
