Copper, aluminium rise on global cues

Prices of copper and aluminium rose up to Rs 3 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today on increased buying by stockists amid a firm trend overseas.

Traders said sentiment bolstered after copper in Shanghai climbed to 11-week high as stockpiles tracked by exchanges in London, Shanghai and New York slumped.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in August added 0.8 per cent to 49,110 yuan (USD 7,875) a tonne, the highest price since March 7, on the Shanghai Futures Exchange. Markets in US and UK are closed today.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap gained Rs 3 to Rs 440 per kg.
 

Aluminium ingot, aluminium sheet cutting, aluminium wire scrap and aluminium utensils were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 152, Rs 153, Rs 155 and Rs 152 per kg, respectively.

Following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 115-121, nickel plate (4x4) 1,094-1,095 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 440, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 124, lead imported 122, aluminium ingots 152, Aluminium sheet cutting 153, aluminium wire scrap 155 and aluminium utensils scrap 152.
