Tracking a weak global trend, copper prices traded lower by 0.56 per cent to Rs 427.10 per kg in futures trading today as speculators trimmed their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November fell Rs 2.40, or 0.56 per cent to Rs 427.10 per kg in business turnover of 6,386 lots.
Market analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to a weak global trend on signs that factory demand will slow in China, the world's largest consumer of the industrial metal.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months dropped 0.6 per cent to USD 6,942.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
