Copper futures down 0.45% on muted demand

copper prices drifted lower by 0.45 per cetnt to Rs 458.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced exposure, driven by tepid demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month April fell by Rs 2.05, or 0.45 per cent to Rs 458.20 per kg in business turnover of 536 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in February was trading lower by Rs 1.75, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 452.50 per kg in 799 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants on the back of sluggish demand in the physical market, mainly weighged on copper prices at futures trade.
