Copper down on global cues

Analysts also attributed the decline in copper prices to profit-booking by speculators

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid profit-booking by speculators and weak trend overseas, copper futures traded a shade lower today at Rs 454.25 per kg.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April declined by 40 paise, or 0.09%, to Rs 454.25 per kg in business turnover of 21 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February fell by just 10 paise, or 0.02%, to Rs 451.10 per kg in 506 lots.

Analysts attributed the decline in copper prices at futures trade to profit-booking by speculators and metal's weakness at the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three-months traded 0.2% down at $7,180.25 per tonne at the LME.
