Copper futures traded 0.53 per cent lower at Rs 328.80 today as speculators cut down their positions at prevailing levels.

In futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April fell Rs 1.75, or 0.53 per cent at Rs 328.80 per kg, in a business turnover of 1,168 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month June was down Rs 1.75, or 0.52 per cent at Rs 333.20 per kg in 193 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to profit-booking by speculators who trimmed their positions at existing levels.

Meanwhile, copper was little changed at USD 4,998 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange (LME).
