Press Trust of India New Delhi
Copper prices fell 0.13 per cent to Rs 456.95 per kg in futures trading today as participants trimmed positions, tracking a weak trend in spot market due to tepid demand amid weak global cues.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February fell 60 paise, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 456.95 per kg in business turnover of 679 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in April shed 55 paise, or 0.12 per cent, to Rs 460.55 per kg in 6 lots.

Analysts attributed the slide in copper futures to offloading of positions by traders owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in the domestic spot market and weakness in the metal at the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Globally, at the LME, copper slipped 0.8 per cent to USD 7,147 per tonne in yesterday's trade.
