Copper futures fall 0.3% on global cues

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Copper prices declined by 0.3 per cent to Rs 312.80 per kg in futures trade today as participants indulged in trimming positions, tracking a weak trend in base metals overseas.

Besides, sluggish spot demand from consuming industries fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in current month shed 90 paise or 0.3 per cent to Rs 312.80 per kg in a business turnover of 406 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month April contracts traded lower by 70 paise or 0.22 per cent to Rs 317.15 per kg in eight lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak trend in global markets after industrial metals retreated amid global growth concern and weak demand at the domestic spot markets.
