Copper prices declined by 0.56 per cent to Rs 364.75 per kg in futures trade today as participants were indulged in trimming their positions to book profits.

Besides, muted spot demand from consuming industries fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April shed Rs 2.05, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 364.75 per kg in a business turnover of 882 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in June contracts traded lower by Rs 1.85, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 368.70 per kg in 342 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to profit-booking by participants amid muted demand at the domestic spot markets.
