Speculators offloaded their positions on weak cues from global markets

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Copper prices fell by 0.59% to Rs 371.85 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions on weak cues from global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April fell by Rs 2.20, or 0.59%, to Rs 371.85 per kg in business turnover of 1,220 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month June contracts traded lower by Rs 2.10, or 0.55%, to Rs 376.30 per kg in 10 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to subdued spot demand and a weak trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months slid 0.7% to $5,829.50 per tonne at the LME.
