Copper prices were down by 1.74 per cent to Rs 322.60 per kg in futures trade today in evening session today, as speculators indulged in trimming bets, tracking a weak global trend.

The exchange opened for the evening session as it remained closed in the morning for 'Id-Ul Fitr'.

Besides, subdued demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market weighed on copper prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in August fell by Rs 5.70, or 1.74 per cent to Rs 322.60 per kg in a business turnover of 5,144 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month November traded lower by Rs 5.50, or 1.64 per cent to Rs 329.05 per kg in 67 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to a weak global trend and muted demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months slipped 1.6 per cent on the London Metal Exchange in yesterday's trade.
