Copper prices fell by 2.14 per cent to Rs 304.15 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid muted demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June declined by Rs 6.65, or 2.14 per cent to Rs 304.15 per kg in a business turnover of 32,956 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month August traded lower by Rs 6.30, or 2 per cent to Rs 308.90 per kg in 1,883 lots.
Analysts said apart from profit-booking by participants at existing higher levels, easing demand from consuming industries in the spot market,mainly influenced copper prices at futures trade.
