Copper down 0.7% on global cues, subdued demand

Metal for delivery in April traded lower by 0.65%

Amid weak global cues and subdued domestic demand, copper prices fell by 0.70% to Rs 403 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month June fell by Rs 2.85, or 0.70%, to Rs 403 per kg in business turnover of 302 lots.

The metal for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 2.60, or 0.65%, to Rs 399.45 per kg in 9,261 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak global trend and sluggish demand at domestic spot markets.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery fell 0.20% to $ 6,469 per tonne, while on the Shanghai Futures Exchange for June delivery lost 0.20% to 44,760 yuan ($7,230) per tonne.
