Copper prices moved up by 0.18 per cent to Rs 423.45 per kg in futures trade today as investors widened their bets.

Furthermore, pick-up in demand at the domestic spot markets too supported the upside in metal prices.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in August rose by 75 paise, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 423.45 per kg in a business turnover of 757 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November contracts traded higher by 65 paise, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 430.50 per kg in two lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to firm trend at the domestic spot markets following an uptick in demand from consuming industries.
