Copper prices edged higher 0.49 per cent at Rs 434.65 per kg in futures trade Wednesday as speculators raised their positions amid pick-up in demand at the spot market.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in July contracts rose by Rs 2.10, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 434.65 per kg in a business turnover of 6,235 lots.
Analysts said firm trend in base metals at the physical market mainly led to rise in copper prices here.
