Copper prices traded up by 75 paise at Rs 452.30 per kg in futures trade on Wednesday on pick-up in spot demand and increasing of positions by speculators.
Higher prices of the metal in the global market also strengthened the sentiment, traders said.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper contracts for September delivery traded higher by 75 paise, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 452.30 per kg in a business turnover lots of 1,562.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in October edged up by 35 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 454.50 per kg in 177 lots.
Globally, the metal was trading higher at USD 263.10 per pound on the London Metal Exchange.
