Continuing its rising streak for the third straight day, copper prices strengthened by 0.25 per cent to Rs 363.30 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in building up positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on improved demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June traded higher by 90 paise, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 363.30 per kg, in a business turnover of 26 lots.
In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in far-month August edged up by 40 paise, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 359.25 per kg in 3,353 lots.
Analysts said expanding of positions by traders amid firm trend at spot market on rising demand from consuming industries, mainly kept copper prices higher at futures trade.
