Copper down by 1.8% as global trend weakens

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Copper futures fell 1.83% to Rs 314.30 per kg today as speculators trimmed positions amid a weak trend in global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June declined by 1.83% to trade at Rs 314.30 per kg.

Analysts said a weakening trend in base metals overseas following China's disappointing trade data, mainly weighed on copper prices at futures trade here.

Besides, fall in demand at domestic spot markets, weighed on prices, they said.

Globally, copper for delivery in three months fell over 1.5% at the London Metal Exchange.
