Copper prices rose 0.15 per cent to Rs 454.55 per kg in futures trade today as speculators raised bets, tracking a firm trend in the spot market amid rising demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in January traded 70 paise, or 0.15 per cent, higher at Rs 454.55 per kg in a business turnover of 1,585 lots.
On similar lines, the metal for delivery in February contracts edged up by 30 paise, or 0.07 per cent, to Rs 458.25 per kg in 1 lot.
Analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of rising demand from consuming industries in the physical market kept copper prices higher.
