Copper prices advanced by 0.44 per cent to Rs 448.90 per kg in futures market today as speculators engaged in enlarging positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on surging demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April rose by Rs 1.95, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 448.90 per kg in a business turnover of 392 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in June was trading higher by Rs 1.70, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 453.70 per kg in 9 lots.
Marketmen said, expanding of positions by participants on the back of soaring demand from consuming industries at the domestic spot markets, mainly kept copper prices higher at futures trade.
