Copper prices rose 0.25 per cent to Rs 441.50 per kg in futures trade today as participants widened their speculative bets amid rising spot demand.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February next year was trading Rs 1.10, or 0.25 per cent, higher at Rs 441.50 per kg in a business turnover of 1,221 lots.

Metal for delivery in April contracts edged higher by 35 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 444.90 per kg in a business volume of 37 lots.

Analysts said raising of bets by participants, tracking pick-up in domestic demand, mainly gave push to copper prices at futures trade here.
