Copper futures rise 0.49 pc on industrial demand

Copper prices moved up 0.49 per cent to Rs 429.65 per kg in futures trading today on rising demand from consuming industries.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the current month contract of the metal spurted by Rs 2.10, or 0.42 per cent to Rs 429.65 per kg in business turnover of 802 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November traded higher by Rs 1.75, or 0.40 per cent to Rs 435.05 per kg in 156 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures trade to expanding of positions by participants, driven by rising demand from consuming industries at domestic spot markets.
