Copper futures fell 0.40% to Rs 335.40 per kg today as speculators trimmed positions amid a weak trend in global markets.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month November declined Rs 1.35, or 0.40%, to Rs 335.40 per kg in a business turnover of 47 lots.

The metal for delivery this month fell Rs 1.30, or 0.39%, to Rs 329.60 per kg in a business volume of 1,314 lots.

Analysts said a weakening trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on concern that demand may falter in China as an equity rout resumed and subdued demand at domestic spot markets mainly weighed on copper futures here.

Globally, copper for delivery in three months tumbled for the fifth day, extending a decline to the lowest close in six years by falling 0.5% to $5,009.50 per tonne at LME.
