Copper prices softened by 0.06 per cent to Rs 416.55 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions amid sluggish demand at the domestic spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month November eased by 25 paise, or 0.06 per cent to Rs 416.55 per kg in business turnover of 11 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August contracts shed 20 paise, or 0.05 per cent to Rs 410.45 per kg in 1,269 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak trend at the domestic markets owing to slackened demand from consuming industries.
