Copper futures soften 0.48% on sluggish demand

Copper prices drifted down by 0.48 per cent to Rs 460.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators cut bets amid a easing demand at domestic spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April fell by Rs 2.20, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 460.10 per kg in a business turnover of 90 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February contracts was trading lower by Rs 1.95, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 455.25 per kg in 1,812 lots.

Marketmen said offloading of positions by participants owing to slackened from alloy-makers in the physical market led to decline in copper futures.
