Subdued demand in the domestic spot market also put pressure on prices

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid weak global cues and subdued domestic demand, copper prices fell by 0.38% to Rs 353.25 per kg in futures trade today on reducing of positions by speculators.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February fell by Rs 1.35, or 0.38%, to Rs 353.25 per kg in business turnover of 1,052 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 1.30, or 0.36%, to Rs 357.65 per kg in 104 lots.

Analysts attributed persistent fall in copper futures to weak global trend on low China trade data.

Besides, subdued demand in the domestic spot market also put pressure, they said.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in the three months traded unchanged at $5,650 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange, while in Shanghai the metal for delivery in April fell 1.2% to 41,200 yuan ($6,593) a tonne.
