Copper prices fell 0.29 per cent to Rs 359.55 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions amid subdued demand at the spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month August eased Rs 1.05, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 359.55 per kg, in a business turnover of two lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in June shed 70 paise, 0.20 per cent, to Rs 355.95 per kg in 485 lots.

Marketmen attributed the fall in copper prices at futures trade to cutting down of positions by traders in line with a weak trend in base metals at the domestic spot markets due to subdued demand from consuming industries.
