Tracking gains in base metals at the London Metal Exchange, copper prices were up 0.22 per cent to Rs 315.50 per kg in futures trade today.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February traded higher by 70 paise, or 0.22 per cent, at Rs 315.50 per kg in a business turnover of 3,740 lots.

The metal for delivery in April moved by a similar margin to trade at Rs 315.50 per kg in 147 lots.

Analysts said apart from a firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME), rising physical demand at the domestic spot market supported the upside.
