Copper down 0.06% on subdued domestic demand

Metal for delivery in February shed 15 paise, or 0.05%

Amid a weak trend in the global market and subdued domestic demand, copper prices fell marginally by 0.06 per cent in the futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month April shed 20 paise, or 0.06 per cent, to Rs 315.60 per kg in a business turnover of 139 lots.

On similar lines, metal for delivery in February shed 15 paise, or 0.05 per cent, to Rs 310.85 per kg in 9381 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak global cues where the base metals pack retreated amid continued speculation that China's economic slowdown and financial market volatility will roil metals markets.
 
Globally, copper for delivery in three months retreated as much as 0.2 per cent on the London Metal Exchange, while shed 0.4 per cent in Shanghai.
