Press Trust of India New Delhi
Copper prices moved up by 0.45% to Rs 337.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions on firm global cues.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February traded higher by Rs 1.50, or 0.45%, to Rs 337.50 per kg in a turnover of 249 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in April edged up by Rs 1.20, or 0.35%, to Rs 342.30 per kg in nine lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to a firm global trend where the metal recovered from lowest level since July 2009.

Globally, copper for delivery in three months rose 0.3% to $5,435 per tonne at the London Metal Exchange (LME) after weakening to $5,421 per tonne in yesterday's trade, the lowest since July 2009.
