Copper prices traded marginally lower by 0.05 per cent to Rs 398.05 per kg in futures trade today as traders trimmed their positions amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February month declined by 20 paise, or 0.05 per cent, to Rs 398.05 per kg in business turnover of 3,164 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in far-month April contracts shed 10 paise, or 0.02 per cent, to Rs 400.65 per kg in 17 lots.

Marketmen attributed the weakness in copper prices at futures trade to tepid demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market.
