Copper prices edged lower by 0.17 per cent to Rs 411.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced their exposure amid sluggish demand at the domestic spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month November edged down by 70 paise, or 0.17 per cent to Rs 411.50 per kg in business turnover of 79 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August contracts traded lower by 40 paise, or 0.10 per cent to Rs 405.25 per kg in 6,518 lots.

Analysts attributed the slide in copper futures to offloading of positions by traders owing to slackened demand from consuming industries.
