Copper, nickel rise on stockists' buying, global cues

Prices of copper and nickel rose by up to Rs 3 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on increased buying by stockists following pick-up in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market amid firm trend overseas.

Traders said increased buying by stockists on the back of pick up in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market and a firm trend overseas, mainly led to the rise in copper and nickel prices.

Globally, copper for delivery in three months settled 0.1 per cent higher at USD 5,621 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange in yesterday's trade.
 

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) moved up by Rs 2 and Rs 3 to Rs 339 and Rs 775-785 per kg, respectively.

Following are today's metals' rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 100-106, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 775-785, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 339, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 92, lead imported Rs 98, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
