Prices of copper and nickel rose by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on emergence of stockists buying amid a firm trend overseas.

Traders said stockists buying and a firm trend overseas where copper surged to highest levels since October 2014 with confidence in global economy, mainly influenced copper and nickel prices.

Besides, rising demand from consuming industries at domestic spot markets, too fulled the uptrend.

Globally, copper for three-month delivery climbed 1.2 per cent to USD 6,915 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 363 and Rs 782-792 per kg, respectively.
