Copper, nickel soften on global cues

Copper and nickel prices fell Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous base metals market today owing to stockists selling in line with a weak global trend.

Traders said stockists selling in tandem with a weak global trend as stockpiles in Shanghai continued expanding, signalling that demand from top-user China is weakening, mainly

influenced the sentiment here.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months retreated 0.5 per cent to 7,123 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) fell by Rs 2 each to 444 and Rs 1,068-1,069 per kg respectively.
 

The following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 119-125, nickel plate (4x4) 1,068-1,069 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 444, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 142, lead imported 140, aluminium ingots 146, Aluminium sheet cutting 147, aluminium wire scrap 149 and aluminium utensils scrap 146.
