Prices of copper and nickel fell up to Rs 5 per kg at the local non-ferrous base metals market today on sluggish demand from consuming industries.

Traders said sluggish demand from consuming industries mainly led to decline in copper and nickel prices.

Weak global trend where copper traded near the lowest level in 44 months at USD 6,480 a tonne on slowing demand in China, also dampened the sentiment, they said.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) fell by Rs 2 and Rs 5 to Rs 434 and Rs 1050-1051 per kg, respectively.

The following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 115-121, nickel plate (4x4) 1,050-1,051 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 434, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 132, lead imported 130, aluminium ingots 146, Aluminium sheet cutting 147, aluminium wire scrap 149 and aluminium utensils scrap 146.
