Copper rebounds on renewed industrial demand

Copper prices rebounded marginally in an otherwise listless non-ferrous metal market here today on renewed demand from stockists and industrial users.

Meanwhile, brass sheet cuttings slipped on lower offtake from consuming industries.

On the global front, industrial copper was little changed at the LME in early trade, as markets digested China's latest outline for economic reform and braced for a central bank meeting in Europe.

Copper sheet cutttings rose by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 428 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 425.

Copper cable scrap, copper utensils and copper wire bar inched up by Re per kg each to Rs 441, Rs 411 and Rs 461 respectively.
 

However, brass sheets cuttings moved down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 328 as against Rs 330 previously.
