Copper remains up on global cues

Copper prices strengthened by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today on increased demand from consuming industries amid a firming global trend.

Traders said sentiments in copper remained firm after it rose in global markets as signs of slower expansion in China supported speculation that the government will take measures to stimulate growth in the world's largest user of metals.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months rose 0.4 per cent to USD 5,712.50 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap added another Rs 2 to Rs 400 per kg.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot 114-120, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,065-1,070, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 400, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 100, Lead imported 101, Aluminium ingots 166, Aluminium sheet cutting 167, Aluminium wire scrap 169 and Aluminium utensils scrap 166.
