Copper prices strengthened by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today on increased demand from consuming industries amid a firming global trend.
Traders said sentiments in copper remained firm after it rose in global markets as signs of slower expansion in China supported speculation that the government will take measures to stimulate growth in the world's largest user of metals.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months rose 0.4 per cent to USD 5,712.50 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
