Copper slides on low demand, global cues

Copper prices declined by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous market today on subdued demand from consuming industries amid a weak global trend.

Traders said sentiment in copper turned bearish after it dropped to the lowest level in almost a week in global markets amid signs that demand is waning from China and Germany, the biggest and third-largest users of the metal.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months slipped 0.2 per cent to USD 6,393 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap was down by Rs 2 to Rs 417 per kg.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot 110-116, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,082-1,088, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 417, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 100, Lead imported 101, Aluminium ingots 162, Aluminium sheet cutting 163, Aluminium wire scrap 165 and Aluminium utensils scrap 162.
