Copper softens on global cues, low demand

Copper prices fell Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today in sync weak global cues amid sluggish demand from consuming industries.

Traders said a weak trend overseas amid investor worries over a recent spate of data that showed China's economy cooled in October, mainly weighed on copper prices.

Globally, copper for three-month delivery fell 0.3 per cent to USD 6,753 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap declined by Rs 2 to Rs 382 per kg.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 116-122, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 767-777, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 382, chadri deshi Rs 295.
 

Lead ingot Rs 121, lead imported Rs 127, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
