Copper softens on low industrial demand

Copper prices eased by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today due to reduced industrial demand.

However, other base metals held steady for want of support.

Traders said reduced offtake by consuming industries and a report of a weak trend overseas mainly led to the decline in copper prices.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap shed Rs 2 at Rs 405 per kg.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg)

Zinc ingot Rs 118-124, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 1,059-1,064, Gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, Copper mixed scrap Rs 405, Chadri deshi Rs 285.
 

Lead ingot- Rs 108, Lead imported- Rs 109, Aluminium ingots- Rs 162, Aluminium sheet cutting- Rs 163, Aluminium wire scrap- Rs 165 and Aluminium utensils scrap- Rs 162.
