Copper strengthens on industrial demand

Copper prices strengthened by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metals market today on pickup in industrial demand.

However, other base metals moved in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled around previous levels.

Traders attributed the rise in copper on pickup in industrial demand.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months rose 0.2 per cent to USD 5,953 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap moved up by Rs 2 to Rs 412 per kg.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 118-124, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 1,064-1,069, Gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, Copper mixed scrap Rs 412, Chadri deshi Rs 285.
 

Lead ingot Rs 102, Lead imported Rs 103, Aluminium ingots Rs 156, Aluminium sheet cutting Rs 157, Aluminium wire scrap Rs 159 and Aluminium utensils scrap Rs 156.
