Copper, zinc rebound on global cues, industrial demand

Tracking a firming trend in the global markets, copper and zinc prices recovered by Rs 5 per kg at the local non-ferrous base metals market today.

Besides, rising demand from consuming industries also supported the upside in select base metal prices.

Traders said apart from pick up in demand at domestic spot markets from consuming industries, rebound in zinc and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on fall in inventories, influenced the trading sentiments here.

Meanwhile, zinc stockpiles monitored by the LME fell 0.6 per cent to 845,425 tonnes, the lowest since February 2012.

Globally, zinc for delivery in three months rose 0.8 per cent to USD 1,967 a tonne, while copper added 0.3 per cent to USD 7,063 per tonne at the LME.
 

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap, zinc and nickel (4x4) traded Rs 5 higher at Rs 436, Rs 119-125 and Rs 1,065-1,066 per kg, respectively.

The following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 119-125, nickel plate (4x4) 1,065-1,066 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 436, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 138, lead imported 136, aluminium ingots 146, Aluminium sheet cutting 147, aluminium wire scrap 149 and aluminium utensils scrap 146.
