Copra declines on reduced demand

Copra prices declined further at the spices market here today due to reduced demand from stockists and retailers amid ample arrivals from producing regions.

Meanwhile, black pepper and ginger prices remained stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

Copra office Alapuzha, copra Kozhikode, copra Rajapur and copra edible prices dropped by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 9,100, Rs 9,000, Rs 10,200 and Rs 9,900 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 9,200, Rs 9,100, Rs 10,300 and Rs 10,000, respectively.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 555/610 (555/610), ginger bleached (per kg) 265 (265), ginger unbleached (per kg) 285 (285), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 9,100 (9,200), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 9,000 (9,100), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 10,200 (10,300), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 9,900 (10,000).
