Copra prices surge on good offtake

Copra prices surged at the spices market here today due to sustained demand from stockist amid higher export offtake.

Meanwhile, black pepper and ginger prices maintained a stable trend in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

Copra rajapur mumbai prices rose by Rs 500 per quintal to Rs 17,000 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 16,500 and copra edible mumbai moved up by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 12,200 as against to Rs 12,000 yesterday.

Elsewhere, copra office Alapuzha gained by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 10,200 from overnight closing level of Rs 10,000 and Copra office kozhikode also edged up by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 10,100 as against Rs 9,800.

Black pepper (per kg) 560/660 (560/660), ginger bleached (per kg) 215 (215), ginger unbleached (per kg) 235 (235), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 10,200 (10,000), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 10,100 (9,800), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 17,000 (16,500), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 12,200 (12,000).
