Copra prices surge on rising demand

Copra office Alapuzha, copra office Kozhikode, copra edible Mumbai and copra Rajapur Mumbai surged at the spices market here today on rising demand from stockists and retailers amid good export offtake.

Rest all other spices including black pepper, ginger unbleached and copra office Kozhikode ruled steady in the absence of any large-scale buying.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai climbed by Rs 1,000 per quintal to Rs 17,000 from Monday's closing level of Rs 16,000 and copra edible Mumbai firmed up by Rs 500 to Rs 14,000 as against Rs 13,500 previously.

Copra office Alapuzha rose by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 11,400 compared to Rs 11,300 previously.

Black pepper (per kg) 480/570 (480/570), ginger unbleached (per kg) 130 (130), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 11,400 (11,300), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 11,200 (11,200), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 17,000 (16,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 14,000 (13,500).
