Copra Rajapur rises on firm demand

Copra Rajapur prices rose in an otherwise sluggish spices market here today due to renewed off-take from stockists and retailers.

Meanwhile, black pepper and ginger markets remained closed in view of a bandh called by traders in protest against the imposition of Local Bodies Tax (LBT) by the government.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai spurted by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 6,100 from last Thursday's closing level of Rs 6,000.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) Closed (360/420), ginger bleached (per kg) closed (145), ginger unbleached (per kg) closed (155), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 4,750 (4,750), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 4,650 (4,650), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 6,100 (6,000) Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 5,650 (5,650).
