Copra slips on poor offtake

Copra prices slipped at the spices market here today following poor offtake from stockists and retailers amid lower export offtake.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai dropped by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 16,500 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 16,800 and copra edible Mumbai declined by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 15,600 as against Rs 15,800.

Copra office Alappuzha and copra office Kozhikode slid by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 14,100 and Rs 14,000 as compared Rs 14,200 and Rs 14,100.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs) with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 415/490 (415/490), ginger unbleached (per kg) 125 (125), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 14,100 (14,200), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 14,000 (14,100), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,500 (16,800), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 15,600 (15,800).
